US vetoes UN condemnation of Syria bombing

The United States blocked a UN Security Council statement condemning a car bomb attack in Damascus, sparking accusations by Russia on Friday of having double standards over the Syrian crisis.

The car bomb killed 53 people on Thursday on a busy highway close to the Russian Embassy and offices of the ruling Baath Party in the Syrian capital. Syrian state media reported that some 200 people, mainly civilians, were wounded in the blast. Casualties included many children attending a nearby school.

Criticizing Washington’s position, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters: “We believe this is double standards.”

“We … see in it a very dangerous tendency by our American colleagues to depart from the fundamental principle of unconditional condemnation of any terrorist act, a principle which secures the unity of the international community in the fight against terrorism,” Lavrov added.
Russia is a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Syrian conflict pitting the government against rebel forces has killed some 70,000 people so far, according to UN estimates.

  2. Zionism is the most violent and aggressive form of racism going. But because they have wall street, Hollywood, the President, the Pope and even the Queen of England in their pocket. They get away with calling people who are not white the n-word and worst. why? Either way the good people of Palestine. The people of Jesus (pbuh) are marked along with the rest of the native people of the middle, of west Asia for pre planned genocide and fully booked extermination.
